Finally year 2010 started with new dreams, hopes & many expectations. We will have some flash back of year 2009 with some important points, through out the year. What was exactly was done in 2009, which we should know …
Year 2008 ended with sorrow in mind & tears in the eyes caused by the Mumbai terror attack on 26/11, then the recession, Economical slowdown etc etc …
January:
Year 2009 brings a “Change” in USA, The inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th President, and Joe Biden as Vice President, took place on January 20, 2009. In India “Satyam” scam a 7000 Cr. scam by company president Ramalingam Raju was finally in media. Also the Manglore pub outrage by the Shree Ram Sena activists then the “Saree Choodi” returns from womens organizations, Rising tension over Eelam, Election commission split were the other media famous topics.
February:
In February Pakistan declared that there was no sea route used by the terrorists of Mumbai 26/11 attack. Also a Shri Lankan Cricket team was attacked by terrorists in Lahore, Pakistan. No cricketer die but some players were injured. Then Pak was declared as unsafe to play at by many cricket playing countries there are no matches of World Cup 2011 in Pakistan. Also in India lawyers vs. police battle in Madras high court & Dhaka munity.
One of the best thing of 2009 was is the Music maestro A.R. Rahman became the first Indian to bag two Oscars for his work in British filmmaker Danny Boyle's much acclaimed Slumdog Millionaire, Best original song- A.R. Rahman and Gulzar, Best original score - A.R. Rahman, also Resul Pookutty, won the coveted Oscar for best sound mixing.
March:
March was the election battle ground. It has the Varun Gandhi’s speech against Muslims, Sanjay Dutt bared from contesting election polls. In March there was some arguments over 26/11/08 terrorist Kasav over selecting his lawyer. Abbas Kazmi was selected for that case but now was sacked by Special Judge M.L. Tahaliyani on 30th November 2009.
But 23rd March, a day written in history when Tata group chairman Ratan Tata launched the “Peoples Car” … “Nano” 1st Rs. 1lakh car for India & the world.
April:
Jarnail Singh, a Sikh journalist who works at the Hindi daily Dainik Jagaran shoed Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram on 7 April 2009. Singh was dissatisfied with Chidamabaram's answer to a question on the Central Bureau of Investigation's (CBI) clean chit to Congress leader Jagdish Tytler on the 1984 anti-Sikh massacre.
Indian students were killed in Australia & many Indian students were attacked over recession.
Elections in Mumbai & Kashmir where in Kashmir more public use their rights than in Mumbai.
On 13th April Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar’s statue was unveiled in Mumbai & featured in Madame Tussauds Museum in London on 23rd April.
May:
May was started with the arguments over playing IPL’s 2nd season or not due to the security issue caused by the elections in many cities. Then chief Mr. Lalit Modi decided to play it in South Africa. It was played in South Africa & was a big hit. Deccan Chargers the IPL 1st seasons Last team was winner of IPL 2nd season.
During IPL 2 there was a launch of Vodafone’s Zoo Zoos …. They were great they change the advertising concepts in India.
On 18th May the LTTE chief Prabhakaran was killed by Shri Lankan military after a long search operation.
In elections UPA back in power & on 22nd May Mr. Manmohan Sing oath as Indian PM for 2nd time.
June:
Mystery crash of Air France’s 447 plane. It was disappeared from sky.
Mrs. Miera Kumari was elected 1st woman speaker in Loksabha.
There was forces march to reclaim Lalgarh, West Bangal.
Yashavant Singh was out from BJP.
Indian marvel of Mumbai “Bandra – Worli Sea Link” named as “Rajiv Gandhi Sea Link” inaugurated & one line was available for public to use.
Pakistan dethrones India in T20 World Cup tournament.
On 25th June “King Of POP” Michel Jackson was dead. The death of Michael Jackson occurred after he suffered cardiac arrest at his home in Holmby Hills, Los Angeles, California.
July:
In July India Pakistan talk started after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack.PM Manmohan Singh advised Pakistan PM Sharn El Shaikh for a strong action against Mumbai attack.
Legally gay: Gay sex won legal sanction in India after the Delhi High Court on Jul 02, 2009. Historic court order makes it possible by Section 377. “...377 denies a gay person the right to full personhood which is implicit in notion of life... A law branding one section of people as criminal based wholly on state’s moral approval of that class runs counter to equality guaranteed in constitution” —Delhi HC.
